What is a Liquid-cooled Generator?A liquid-cooled generator is a generator that has an engine that is cooled by liquid coolant just like a car engine. The liquid coolant goes through the generator and cools the engine block to prevent overheating. | By ProMatcher Staff | Updated: 06/18/2018 | | In a liquid-cooled generator liquid coolant goes through the generator and cools the engine block to prevent overheating. The other type of generator cooling system is the air-cooling system, which pulls air from outside the generator and uses it to cool down the generator using fans. Liquid-cooled generators are larger and have a higher electric output than air-cooled generators.
Air-cooled generators produce up to 22 kilowatts of electricity, while liquid-cooled generators produce 22-150 Kilowatts. Despite being larger than air-cooled generators, liquid cooled generators tend to be quieter. Liquid-cooled generators are however much more expensive.
